Looking for an effortless introduction to working with clay? Are you interested in growing your hand-building skills? This course is built for you. In this three-week course, students will be taught hand-building techniques to produce objects from coils, soft slabs, stiff slabs, templates, and surface decoration. This course is perfect for those with no experience with clay as well as those wanting to build upon their hand-building skills.

Instructor Bio

Ben Statser

Ben Statser is a ceramic artist and educator living and working in Dallas. After earning an MFA in ceramics from the University of North Texas in 2021, he began teaching with Dallas College where he’s currently a ceramics instructor at the El Centro campus. Ben has also taught ceramics classes at various community studios around DFW. Drawn to the transformative nature of clay, the medium is often used in his work to reflect personal experiences of growth and transformation of identity. Ben is passionate about clay and the community it brings together, hoping to spread the excitement ceramics holds through teaching the medium.
