2 Week Workshop
Thursday Evenings
6:30-9:00PM

Ikebana is a specialized ceramic forms designed for the Japanese art of flower arranging. Ikebana emphasizes simplicity, balance, and harmony, and the vessels themselves are as much a part of the arrangement as the flowers they hold. Join John for an intermediate-level throwing class focused on exploring the endless possibility of these vessels.

In this class, John will demonstrate several styles of Ikebana forms on the wheel, from low and wide bases to taller, more sculptural variations. These versatile pieces offer endless possibilities for both function and expression.

We’ll be working with a light brown stoneware, but students are welcome to bring any cone 6 clay body they prefer. You will want to bring your own throwing tools to class.

This is a beginner/intermediate class: we suggest students already feel comfortable centering, pulling walls, and making basic vessel forms.
