This class introduces you to the craft of slip-casting and explores its potential for crafting intricately detailed ceramics. The workshop will kick off with a comprehensive lesson on the attributes, preparation, and desired consistency of casting slip. In this class, you will engage in pouring slip and processing cups manually. John will guide you through the techniques of extracting vessels without warping or tearing, refining seams, and adding personalized touches. We will also discuss methods to control thickness, adding colorants using stains, and briefly touch upon tools to aid in processing slip-covered pieces for consistently exceptional outcomes.

This workshop caters to both newcomers unfamiliar with clay and enthusiasts keen on cultivating a well-rounded understanding of ceramics. This class is designed for all skill levels.

John Campbell

John has been a full-time production potter in the Dallas area for 6 years. His work focuses on clean, consistent and functional forms. John is incredibly passionate about teaching ceramics whether it be introducing someone to the processes for the first time or sharing a new perspective on the craft with those more familiar with clay.
