Instructor Bio

Jerri Quiroz

Jerri Quiroz is a Mexican-American artist born and raised in Dallas, Texas. Her work conveys complex familial narratives and cultural mythologies through ceramics, but even more, celebrates culture and the sacredness of family. Jerri Quiroz is a Mexican-American ceramic artist from Dallas, Texas, and the creator behind Jerri’s Calaveritas, where she creates handbuilt ceramic pieces that explore culture, memory, and identity. Raised in an artistic family and the daughter of immigrant parents, Jerri uses her work to share stories rooted in Mexican heritage.She earned her BFA in Ceramics from the University of Dallas in 2023 and has been working full-time in her studio since then. Her ceramics reflect personal experiences and cultural traditions, drawing inspiration from family, folklore, and everyday life—including influences like her luchador uncle and her travels through Mexico, where she studied traditional techniques with master artisans. Through her ceramics, Jerri blends ancestral methods with narrative expression, creating pieces layered with cultural symbolism and emotional depth. Her work speaks to the enduring presence of heritage in daily life. Recognized nationally with awards like the William Lee Grant from Trendspot, she continues to build a practice grounded in honoring one’s roots and the stories that shape who we are.
