$85.00
Friday Evening
6:00-9:00PM
FCS Clayworks is excited to host artist Diya Kalia of Folklorez Art Studio for a slab-based workshop focused on surface design and sgraffito.
Class will start with learning how to apply colored slip to leather hard forms. Students will carve through the surface to reveal the clay body underneath, creating layered drawings, patterns, and textures. Sgraffito is perfect for both bold graphic designs and delicate linework, making each plate as unique to the students who design them.
This workshop is open to all skill levels and ages. Whether you have worked with clay before or not, Diya will usher you through the process from beginning to end in order to produce a successful work of art. The studio will provide clay, slips, and carving tools, though students are welcome to bring their favorite tools or drawing ideas for inspiration. Finished pieces will be bisque and glaze fired (with a studio clear) by the studio and available for pickup at a later date.
