This workshop focuses on clay wedging and reclaim practices for the clay studio. Students will learn multiple wedging techniques, including spiral and ram’s head wedging, with attention to proper form and clay consistency. The class will also cover reclaim processes from start to finish: collecting and sorting scraps, slaking, drying to specific workable stages, and returning clay to a usable state for throwing or handbuilding. We will go over moisture content, fixing “short” reclaim, avoiding contamination, and developing systems that support better workflow. This class is ideal for beginners seeking strong fundamentals and experienced makers looking to learn how to better reduce material waste.
