Wheel Thrown Planter Pots: Intermediate – Thursdays, February 20th – March 6th 2025, 7:00pm- 9:30pm

$175.00

Join us for an intermediate-level course focused on making wheel-thrown planter pots! If you already have a grasp of creating various shapes and sizes on the pottery wheel, this class is perfect for you. We encourage you to scale down the weight of your pots to match your skill level while still exploring the artistry of planter design.
Throughout this course, we will cover a range of planter styles and sizes, with a strong emphasis on mastering trimming and altering the base of your pots for appropriate drainage—essential skills for nurturing different types of plants.
Course Outline:
Day 1: We’ll kick off by throwing low, wide presentation-style pots and Bonsai pots. This foundational work will set the stage for unique planter designs.
Day 2: After trimming our Bonsai pots, we will shift our focus to taller vessels that maintain a cohesive aesthetic with our initial pieces. You’ll learn techniques to create a unifying style, ensuring your planters will beautifully complement one another on your table.
Day 3: We will finalize trimming our taller vessels from Day 2 and add the finishing touches to all our pots. You’ll leave with a collection of polished planters ready to showcase your plants.
Throughout the workshop, plan to experiment, iterate, and refine your skills as you craft beautiful, functional pieces for your home or garden. Don’t miss this opportunity to elevate your pottery practice!
At the end of the course, your finished greenware vessels will be fired to bisque and can be taken home for glazing and firing, or you can opt to finish them using our glazes and kiln firing program for an additional fee. Bring your 50 lbs of preferred clay and personal tools. We will have basic tool kits and 50 lb boxes of clay available for purchase at the studio upon request.
